Solve the World Problem
For our Creative Engineering project we had to pick a problem in the world and find a solution for it. In our group we chose to solve the problem of hair ties. Our first step was to research how much damage hair ties can do to you're hair and how different hair ties react to different hair types. We came up with three experiment and tested all three. One was running the mile with the same type of hair ties but different hair types. It didn't turn out well as we thought but overall the hair ties stayed in. Our second experiment we tested out the black hair ties and how they reacted to water at different temperature. It turned out that the hair ties that is in the hot water stretch more than the one that was in the cold water but they both stretched. Lastly, we tested out how silicon hair ties reacted to hair ties. They both were affected by the water but not the temperature. After testing out the experiment we finally came up with a plan. We decided to wrap thread around the silicon hair tie and made out first prototype.
Reflection:
In this group we all worked together to help save the world from breaking hair ties. We work well together and help one another. One problem we had was that we weren't prepared for the presentation. We started to prep for the presentation a day before we had to present. Overall, it was a great project to work on.
I worked on this project with Vivian Leida, Alexis Bishop, Jillian Seymour and Sadie Ikeda.
